e-SCM x Bali Chair: Data at the service of fashion companies!

THE BALI CHAIR

An ecosystem in perpetual innovation

The year 2024 marks a decisive milestone for the Bali Chair, which continues its commitment to sustainable and circular fashion. In collaboration with its partners, it continues to explore innovative solutions aimed at transforming the textile industry in the face of current environmental and economic challenges.

One of the central pillars for e-SCM was the presentation of three years of research on the development of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) to the European Parliament. It is emerging as a key tool for guaranteeing traceability and transparency throughout the entire textile value chain.

“We are at the heart of the sector’s business challenges. Centralizing and collecting data throughout the process allows us to reposition operational data to serve fashion companies,” says Patrick Bourg, Director of Operations at e-SCM Solutions.

EXPERTISE

Traceability & economic performance

Today, work on traceability is taking a new turn. In a context marked by multiple pressures on raw material prices and availability on the one hand, and pressures on purchasing power on the other, brands are facing major strategic and operational performance challenges. Far beyond its relevance to sustainability issues, traceability is now taking center stage in the textile industry, using data to improve operational management and optimize economic performance. A true decision-making tool, the centralization of operational data is at the heart of all the challenges and all the solutions.

Patrick Bourg's interview

In this interview (p. 44), Patrick Bourg, Director of Operations at e-SCM Solutions, emphasizes that traceability , made mandatory by the AGEC law, is essential to guarantee brand transparency towards consumers. He insists that data collection must cover the entire supply chain, well beyond environmental labeling.

By centralizing this information in digital tools, companies can not only meet regulatory requirements but also improve their operational performance . Traceability thus becomes a lever for competitiveness, enabling better anticipation of problems and strategic decision-making, while optimizing the supply chain.

HIGHLIGHT 2024

The Chair on the European stage

In 2023, the European Parliament, through the Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA), commissioned a study on the potential of PNPs traceability consultant at e-SCM, responded to the call.

Carried out within the framework of the European Union's strategy for sustainable and circular textiles, the study examines the potential, needs, benefits and challenges related to the deployment of the PNP for all stakeholders in the European textile sector value chain.

It is within this context that the traceability module was developed to enable the mapping of all processes, from the manufacturing of components or raw materials to the finished product delivered to the warehouse.

“reference and supplier” information sheets and a digital product passport for precise tracking of product data at the finest level and throughout the entire supply chain.

Supported by Pantxika Ospital's research in writing her thesis "Promoting circularity and traceability in the fashion and textile sector: Proposal of the Digital Product Passport (PNP) to achieve product transparency", e-SCM Solutions offers you its expertise to respond to regulations and changes in consumption.

The Bali Chair continues to be a key player in the transformation of the textile industry. Through academic research, technological innovations, and support for businesses, it plays a major role in building a sustainable and responsible fashion industry.
