E-SCM X Chair Bali: Data at the service of fashion companies!

THE BALI CHAIR

A perpetual innovation ecosystem

The year 2024 marks a decisive step for the Bali Chair, which continues its commitment to sustainable and circular fashion. In collaboration with its partners, it continues to explore innovative solutions aimed at transforming the textile industry in the face of current environmental and economic challenges.

One of the central pillars for E-SCM was the presentation of the research work carried out for 3 years on the development of the digital product passport (PNP) with the European Parliament. It stands out as a key tool to guarantee traceability and transparency through the entire textile value chain.

“We are at the heart of business issues in the sector. The centralization and collection of data throughout the process allows us to reposition operational data at the service of fashion companies. "Says Patrick Bourg, Director of Operations at E-SCM Solutions.

EXPERTISE

Traceability & economic performance

Today, work on the traceability of the supply chain is taking a new turn. In a context marked by multiple tensions on the price of materials and their availability on the one hand, and tensions on purchasing power on the other hand, brands are faced with major issues of strategic and operational performance. Well beyond its interest in matters of sustainability, traceability now takes up its districts at the heart of the reactor of the textile industry to improve, by data, operational piloting and optimize economic performance. A real decision -making tool, the centralization of operational data is at the crossroads of all the challenges and all solutions.

Patrick Bourg's interview

In this interview (p.44), Patrick Bourg, director of operations at E-SCM Solutions, stresses that traceability , made compulsory by Agec law, is essential to guarantee the transparency of brands towards consumers. He insists that data collection must cover the entire supply chain, far beyond the environmental label.

By centralizing this information in digital tools, companies can not only meet regulatory requirements, but also improve their operational performance . Traceability thus becomes a lever for competitiveness, making it possible to better anticipate problems and make strategic decisions, while optimizing the supply chain.

Time 2024

The chair on the European scene

In 2023, the European Parliament requested a study, through the Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA), concerning the PNP for textile products. Prof. Jérémy Legardeur (Chair Bali-Estia) and Pantxika Ospital, Doctor of the Bali Chair with his thesis on the subject of the PNP and specialist traceability within E-SCM, answered the call.

Carried out within the framework of the European Union strategy for sustainable and circular textiles, the study examines the potential, the needs, the advantages and the challenges linked to the deployment of the PNP for all the stakeholders in the value chain European textile sector.
